Heinsco Ltd was established almost 30 years ago in 1973 by Garry Heins who, after graduating from the University of Manchester decided to invest in new innovative technologies such as composite fibres. This showed remarkable vision as at the time composite fibre was an exotic fibre that although promised much, was still at the very early stages of its evolution. Heinsco originally manufactured preimpregnated unidirectional reinforcements (ROVOLOK) in 1986 followed by UNIFIBRE products in 1993. Heinsco's current primary activities are in the manufacture and sale of Unifibre non-woven unidirectional reinforcements and woven composite cloths. They also manufacture machines to produce Unifibre and are in continuous product development in collaboration with customers. Heinsco has recently moved to newer larger premises in Rochdale (12,500 sq ft) to cope with increased demand and has 11 full time employees.

| Garry Heins B.Sc(Tech)
Hons AMCT - Managing Director
Garry is the principle director of Heinsco and graduated with honours from Manchester University in 1960 with a degree in Textile and polymer chemistry. For the last 30 years Garry has worked commercially in the field of advanced fibre reinforced composites developing new ranges of products to suit the ever growing demand composite fibres. Garry, who has served on the British Standards Committee, can claim to be one of the few people in the industry that has been at the forefront of the advanced composite industry "since the beginning", and has delivered several technical papers on reinforcement fibres, including SPI (USA). |

Free Rewinding
Heinsco
operate a unique process for splitting down large spools of carbon tow into a
number of smaller spools. Customers can be carbon fibre manufacturers (e.g.
Toray, Grafil) or carbon fibre users (e.g. weavers, pultruders)
Resin
Infusion
A
new division of Heinsco has been formed for the purpose of manufacturing high
fibre volume laminates, aimed initially at the sporting market, but with
aircraft in view. The components are made to aerospace specifications using new
low cost process routes.
Sales
Over
50% of sales are exports. We sell direct and also via distributors in the USA we
have a licensee. We process over 40 tonnes of carbon and over 400 tonnes of
glass fibre per annum.
Markets
Marine
- hulls,
masts, spars etc.
Sporting
– skis, oars, sailboards, surfboards, hockey sticks, archery bows, model
aircraft and yachts etc.
Industrial
– machine parts, wind turbines, civil engineering, (e.g. bridge strengthening,
column wrapping)
Aerospace
– tail springs for tail draggers, jet
engine blocker doors.
General
Our
strategy is to continuously develop innovative manufacturing processes. We work
in collaboration with other organisations but mainly our developments are
carried out in house.
